Prepare for open enrollment 2025: What employers need to know

September 4, 2024 / 19 min read

Get ready for open enrollment. Employers who sponsor group health plans should be aware of compliance changes affecting the design and administration of their plans and communicate any changes to plan participants.

As we approach the 2025 plan year, it’s crucial that employers sponsoring group health plans are ready for open enrollment. Employers should be aware of compliance changes that impact the design and administration of their health plans, such as limits that are adjusted for inflation each year.

Any benefit changes should be communicated to plan participants through an updated summary plan description (SPD) or summary of material modifications (SMM). Ensure open enrollment materials include all required participant notices, such as the summary of benefits and coverage (SBC), to streamline administration and reduce costs.
