As the national financial institutions practice leader, I am focused on expanding this important vertical within our financial services group. This includes developing strategies to grow our market presence, people development, and maintaining our client service for our clients across the country. In addition to this leadership opportunity, I continue to provide financial statement audits and internal control reviews within all verticals within the financial services group, including community banks, investment companies, and mortgage and specialty finance companies. With over 25 years of experience, I also have expertise in internal audits, FDICIA, risk management, evaluation of internal controls, new accounting standards, and merger and acquisition consulting.
I was drawn to this profession because of the variety it offers. From teacher and technician to business developer and leader, the firm allows us to create a path where we can perform at our highest level. Critical moments in my career can be closely linked to major changes impacting my clients, such as Sarbanes-Oxley and the Great Recession — both were points in time when our clients could rely on us for much-needed guidance and the variety I was drawn to was put to work.
I’m often asked to speak at board meetings and various seminars. I’ve presented to the Michigan Bankers Association, the Indiana Bankers Association, the Community Bankers of Michigan, as well as at firm-sponsored CECL implementation trainings. I sit on the board of the B#4 Foundation, and I also belong to the Michigan Association of CPAs and the AICPA. I have a bachelor’s degree with a dual major in business administration and accounting from Aquinas College.
My wife, whom I’ve known since high school, and I spend a lot of time entrenched in our two kids’ activities. When I have time to myself, I enjoy hunting, fishing, and golfing.
