It’s not a surprise to those who know me, but I’m a big fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000 and have been watching the reboot of the show on Netflix. The B movies and the constant wise cracks never seem old to me.

Experience

As the leader of the firm’s real estate investment trust (REITs) tax practice, I assist clients with REIT taxation, and tax structuring and planning related to sales and exchanges involving real estate.

Although my industry focus is real estate taxation, I also specialize in partnership transaction tax planning and lead the firm’s subchapter K practice. This enables me to work with clients across multiple industries via the firm’s national tax office.

I taught as an adjunct professor within Walsh College’s tax program for several years and currently work with several of my former students. My goal is to develop the next generation of tax leaders within the firm. For these staff, I hope to instill my goal of always providing value to our clients.

Although staff come to my office for tax guidance, they’re often distracted by the Nightmare on Elm Street movie poster and figures of Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger in my office. Staff who express an interest can hope to be added to the invitee list for the “cheesy movie” party I hold each year.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and daughter and traveling. Otherwise, I can usually be found trying to spruce up our property with a new landscaping or gardening project.I’m a member of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts, the Michigan Association of CPAs, and the AICPA. I received both my B.S. in accounting and my M.S.T. from Walsh College.
