I specialize in tax controversy matters with a focus on helping clients navigate complicated IRS exam and appeals processes. As a former litigator with years of experience in trial and appellate courts, I utilize my unique perspective and experience to inform exam defense strategies and set my clients up for success. Additionally, I advise clients on collections matters, other federal tax enforcement actions, filing private letter ruling requests, and many other tax controversy matters.
In addition to tax controversy matters, I also provide guidance on emerging tax issues, including new tax legislation and developments in tax guidance. I analyze and distill changes in tax guidance to identify the most pressing issues for our clients and help them develop strategies for responding to the evolving tax landscape.
Prior to joining the firm, I was an accomplished litigator with experience handling cases in state courts, U.S. district courts, U.S. Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Because of my experience as a litigator, I’m skilled at conveying complicated tax concepts to a wide variety of audiences in a digestible way. My clients and colleagues appreciate my ability to get them up to speed on complex topics quickly.
I received my LL.M. in taxation from the Northwestern School of Law and a J.D. from the Florida State University College of Law. I have a license to practice law in Florida and Massachusetts.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy being active. One of my favorite summer activities is playing volleyball on the beautiful Chicago beaches. I’m an avid runner and enjoy participating in races ranging from 5ks to marathons. I sit on the professional board for PAWS Chicago, a Chicago-based animal rescue organization, and I enjoy volunteering at PAWS shelters and helping with fundraising, event planning, and community outreach for the organization.
