I really like to travel and try new activities. I’m currently working through the national park system and have been to 13 so far, with a goal to visit every park.

Experience

I focus on ASC 740 and SSAP 101 compliance, including deferred and current tax compliance as well as federal and state income tax compliance related to financial institutions, property and casualty, health, and captive arrangements. The majority of my clients are in the financial service group, specifically financial institutions, insurance companies, and mortgage companies.

Clients appreciate that I work with multiple areas of the firm to coordinate quick and thorough answers. Around the office, I’m known for my upbeat attitude and calm demeanor; I always like making people laugh, and I make a point to ensure they’re comfortable and feel welcomed.

I was initially attracted to this career because of the opportunity to work with individuals and companies to tackle their business needs and assist with their company growth. The bonus is the internal side of it. I enjoy helping staff grow in their careers and helping them find the right fit to set them up for future success.

With more than 10 years of experience, I’ve presented at multiple insurance conferences over the past years, mostly providing tax updates as regulations and tax compliance changes come through. I belong to the AICPA, MICPA, and IASA. I’ve earned my B.B.A. and M.Acc. from Western Michigan University.

When I’m not at work, I golf as much as possible. I enjoy being on and around water, either boating or going down a river. I love being in nature, so hiking through the woods or just sitting next to a fire at night are at the top of my list.
