Plante Moran’s Kimber Smail-Benedict appointed to AICPA expert panel

Southfield, Michigan – Kimber Smail-Benedict, partner in Plante Moran’s Southfield office, was recently named to the American Institute of CPAs’ Expert Panel for Employee Benefit Plans.

As part of the panel, Smail-Benedict will work with nationally recognized experts to deliberate and come to agreement on key benefit plan issues.

“This national appointment is a testament to Kimber’s talent, hard work and accomplishments in the benefit plan industry,” said Sue Novak, leader of Plante Moran’s employee benefit plan practice. “Kimber’s involvement in the AICPA expert panel will keep Plant Moran and its clients in front of issues affecting benefit plans as well as give them a voice when benefit plan standards are updated.”

With more than 17 years of experience, Smail-Benedict is considered an expert on accounting and reporting matters related to employee benefit plans. She is involved in the development of the firm’s employee benefit plan financial statement audit approach and is also a member of the Benefit Plan Leadership Team, which prepares, coordinates and facilitates the firm’s benefit plan audit technical training. Additionally, she is a frequent presenter at national conferences on accounting, auditing and reporting issues related to employee benefit plans.
