Congratulations to Caledonia Community Schools (CCS) on the groundbreaking of the new Dutton Elementary School building, which will replace the current 1959 facility serving 300 K-12 students today.
In 2020, voters in Caledonia, Mich., approved an $88 million bond proposal aimed at improving facilities, security, and technology across the district. Following the 2020 bond, the community passed an additional $61 million supplemental bond to further improve facilities and technology. Of that $61 million, $40 million was allocated to the replacement of Dutton Elementary School.
The new 60,000-square-foot building will have more open space, capacity to house an additional 150 students, larger instructional spaces, and a “barrier-free” playground that will be fully accessible to children with mobility challenges. The new Dutton Elementary is scheduled to open in the fall 2025 and expected to be on time and within budget.
As owner’s representative, Plante Moran Realpoint (formerly Plante Moran Cresa) is helping CCS manage the risk, scope, budget, and schedule associated with the entire bond program throughout design and construction.
